The Quarrymen's Barracks in Nantlle, built in the 1860s, were once home to the many slate quarrymen working in Dorothea Quarry. Since 2016 however, they have been our home and base, and where all our coffee is roasted, tasted and packed by hand.

We are always experimenting with different coffees here in the Barracks, and 'Blend Y Barics' is an opportunity for us to share with you when we hit on something we really like.
Blend Y Barics is our seasonal blend, and an alternative to our signature Espresso Blend. Though designed for espresso, Blend Y Barics makes for a delightful Aeropress, Stovetop, or Cafetiere.

Blend Y Barics will change with the seasons and harvests, so come along for the ride and enjoy what we're drinking at the roastery.

SUMMER 2026

Cupping notes: Blueberry, raspberry, red grape, vanilla cheesecake, almonds.

Our Blend Y Barics is always designed to be a celebration of the best of what coffee can be throughout the seasons and harvests, and a delicious accompaniment to our seasons here in the UK. Our summer blend is no exception, bursting with all the fruity and sweet flavours we love about Summer, from two of our favourite producing partners.

The inspiration came when cupping the latest harvest from Migoti, in Burundi, sourced through Omwani. We were amazed by a particular anaerobically processed crop that tasted delightfully smooth, owing to its slightly extended fermentation at a higher altitude and therefore cooler temperatures. This gave the team at Migoti more control over the fermenatation process, leading to a smoother and more rounded cup than anaerobic processing often lends itself to. It’s wonderful strawberry and floral notes were an instant taste of summer.

The next coffee to amaze us was a naturally processed coffee from the Ijen Highlands, in Java, Indonesia, sourced through Falcon Coffees. Whilst Java is a popular coffee producing region, this coffee stood out as distinctly ‘untypical’ of a coffee from Java, bursting with sweetness and fruity flavours.

The two coffees both compliment each other and shine themselves to make a delicious summery coffee best suited to paper filter and cold brewing, perfect for both a sunny morning brew and a refreshing afternoon hit.
